As revealed in our massive Black Ops 2 gameplay round-up, the new Zombies Mode runs on the multiplayer engine and thus supports twice the zombies, twice the co-op players and larger maps.

Treyarch bossman Mark Lamia told us the team’s “really blowing it out on that front”, hinting at unrevealed new modes. “If you like zombies, you’re going to be really happy with what we’re doing with Black Ops 2. It’s our biggest, most ambitious zombies effort ever,” he added to Activision community manager Dan Amrich.
According to a CVG source, Lamia has apparently given the Black Ops 2 zombies team “free reign to do pretty much whatever they want with the mode regardless of the direction the campaign is headed in”. You can thank the roaring success of last year’s Black Ops Rezurrection DLC pack for that particular show of confidence.
